Frequently asked questions :

Q: How this web page works ?
A: Just select your input unit that you want to convert.
If you cannot find your desired source unit use the '...more' or 'Maximize menu' options.
Now in the next page select your destination unit.
Fill the form with your input unit value and just hit the 'Convert' button.

Q: Can i use the exponential notation ?
A: Yes, the exponential notation lets you move the decimal point in a number.
By using this notation you can simplify numbers by getting rid of zeros.
So in order to write 4000 (4*103) you only have to write 4E3.
Same thing if you want to write the value 0.002 (2*10-3) just write 2E-3.

Q: Can i use real numbers as input unit values instead of integers ?
A: Yes just use the '.' instead of the ',' as decimal separator.
So for example write 1.5 instead of 1,5.

Q: Can i isolate my favorite conversion ?
A: Yes. Just bookmark your favorite conversion form.

Q: Were did you find these values ?
A: The reference is : Allen, Robert C. and Tommy E. Murphy [August 31, 2005]; Just before the metre, the gram, the litre: Building a Rosetta Stone of Weights and Measures in the Early Modern World, Table I (version 05.08), Table II (version 05.08), Table IV (version 05.08), Table V (version 05.08) and Table VI (version 05.08). Link.

Q: Why this web site is simple and ugly ?
A: Archaic Units of Measure is an accessible web site.
It is W3C compatible and the contrast between the colors is good for people which suffer from Protanopia, Deuteranopia or Tritanope.
With a maximum of three clicks (worst case for unpopular conversions) you can reach the desired conversion form. The simple layout of the page offer faster speeds too.
So simplicity for us mean : accessibility, navigability and usability.

Q: What is the quick menu located at the bottom right of the page ?
A: When you select a category with more than 19 items then you should get the quick menu which will help you to locate the unit you want to use. So for example if you want to convert kilometers to meters hit from the length category the "K" and you will jump to the kilometer option. In the next page, again with the use of the quick menu, by hitting the "M" you will jump to the unit names that start with the letter M.

Q: Can i search a unit ?
A: Yes just use the search box at the top right of each page. Remember that all search results can be bookmarked or shared with the share button.

Q: How can i find a unit that i can not remember exactly it's name ?
A: Lets say you want to find the unit "Pounds" but you do not remember it's exact name. By writing "oun" you will be able to find the match you want within the given results.

Q: I still have problems or the conversions are not correct!
